When to change fan belt on a 2002 chevy impala

Serpentine belt? I usually replace every 60-80K

I try to change mine just before they break ;) -- plan on changing the tensioner every two belts. They get weak and the belt squeals after start up.

6 years.. or if you see too many cuts from debris.

Normal wear would dictate any time after 60K miles. Check for cracks or wear on the belt. Hot weather or freezing weather play havoc on the belts and they deteriorate faster. Be careful of oil changing stations that may tell you your belt needs changing. Go to a garage you trust to check the tension arm device and belts.

I just replaced mine that was OE factory 7 years old. I replaced it just before it broke *wink* just like tenspeed. And I intend to replace the tensioner with the next belt, but do not plan on waiting another 7 years, more like 5 or less, with all the miles I have been putting on my little Corolla...3400 in May alone (well plus 2 days in April) but 3400 in 24 days, far more than the norm for me. Side note> Could not quite make the 40mpg milestone. After adding up all gas receipts/mileage total 38.8. I am happy with that
