Why is my engine overheating?

Asked by Daniel Jun 20, 2020 at 08:05 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Engine is overheating at idle and in park, with a/c
on or off. I replaced thermostat, the old one looked
good but I replaced it anyway.

I think it's most likely the fan's not engaging when it reaches operating temperature. Other possibilities are the coolant level or water pump.
