what are the possible problems and/or fixes for a 1983 riviera thats speedometer only reads '0'
the speedometer in my riviera ( i think its a 1983 ) stays at '0' and I'm trying to figure out
what the possibilities are as to whats causing this so I can maybe fix it myself
I'd start by replacing the battery with a brand new one...then clean the clamping terminals with a wirebrush...the other end of the black cable that connects to the chassis ground should be wire brushed down to the metal..and the washer and bolt too....yes good solid ground for your instrument cluster---this may just set it all right~
Either the speed sensor is faulty at the transmission or the instrument cluster has lost some contact points from the printed circuit board, and you might need a new instrument cluster. You will need to do some diagnostic work to figure out what is causing your exact issue before replacing parts.
you have a cable on the '83...replace it~
thank you for your answers. They are all great suggestions and have given me a starting point!! ......now, let me see if I cant figure this out and get it back into shape....
