Now are the last six the production number overall, or are they the production number for that plant? I'm trying to understand the correlation between the last six on the door seal and the number listed after the plant on the data plate.

Perfect. That's the only way I could figure the numbers working. It's a '66 GTO. # 40 off the Kansas City line.
