Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my 2008 toyota corolla ran fine yesterday. i left the keys in the ignition overnight by accident (not turned on or forward). this morning when i opened the door it dinged like there was power. so i turned the key and nothing. when i went to go get it jumped the cables were sparking when trying to attach them (with no keys in either car or running). so we tried to start the car again and it started up with no problem?! then when driving down the road to leave i have no acceleration now! pedal to the floor and nothing with the check engine light on.... what is wrong with it??
