2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible- trunk/deck issue

Asked by Apr 30, 2016 at 04:11 PM about the 2008 Chrysler Sebring

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Top is down on my 2008 Sebring convertible, but
deck/trunk will not latch when I close it so I am unable to
put the top back up. How can I fix this myself? Is this
something I have to take to my mechanic?

Sorry no answer and I have a 2008 sebring Convertable with same problem and problems with the top latching. In the owners Manuel it says theirs a special tool to take top down by hand i stead of the buttons I need help to

I even contacted Daimler Chrysler corp and no help

Unlock the trunk with your key. Unplug the motor under the decklid. Use a cordless tool battery with 14.4 v to hotwire the motor & reverse the motor. In my case, there was no power to the motor under the deck sliding mechanism
