What raceing oil weight is best for chevy truck avalanche 1500 5.3L 2 wd 2004
Depends on the engine & climate you live & drive in. Moderate- temps with no cold is 30wt. Hot- temps 40wt like I used in a TBI 350 " in AZ. (Pennzoil racing) Mixed- hot, warm, cold, a multi weight like 10-30wt. Mobile 1, or Castrol full synthetic on newer cars & trucks like yours. Multi weight oil (10-30wt) the 10 thinner weight side is for easier start ups during cold weather. A high milage / older engine oil fills in the groves or deep scratches so to speak & makes the worn fiction components slippery.
You do NOT need racing oil for a 5.3 Chevy motor. Run what the manufacturer specifies. If you want some extra protection, run synthetic such as Mobil1 at the manufacturer specified grade (pretty sure it is 5w30).
5 w 30 in my 04 Avalanche. Al
Have 08 Avl and 150k miles running 15/50wt Mobil One and works great
Royal Purple auto trans fluid & rear dif gear oil helps too.
5w30 full synthetic is what I run
