My tail lights on my 78 grand prix won't work. Brake lights work turn signals work all the bulbs are new the fuse is good I'm not getting power to the sockets or connectors with the headlights turned on

You likely have a wire short. You may need to run new wires. But, I would check the bulbs first. There is sometimes a jumper wire that runs between the two sides, I would start there. You can check wires for continuity using a cheap ohm meter.

I was afraid of that. I was told the switch could also be bad? The fuse is good so is the switch a possible problem too?

If you are talking the light switch that turns them on, yes. Also ensure that you have the correct bulbs in place.

Thanks I appreciate the help I replaced the switch and fuse and bulbs I have turn signals brake lights but still no tail, license plate, or corner lights.

Sounds like a wiring issue at this point. Wish i could be of greater help to you. Good luck. You should not drive the car in this condition. Did you check the bulbs and sockets to ensure that they have the same number of contact nubs?

Thanks for the help I went to clean the connector in the trunk and the brown taillight wire came right out . I spliced and got lights lol
