1970 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ edition - Need help to figure out if the numbers are matching - Please help
I am about to purchase a 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ edition. Please can someone tell
me how to check to see if the numbers are matching?
Thanks guys it really appreciated
Check the motor block for serial number, should be around or under exhaust manifold on block, should match the serial number on car tab.
The information tag that you're looking for will be "conveniently" located under the a/c compressor. It'll be a machined smooth square spot on the block with the codes on it. I believe that the last 6 digits of the vehicle identification number should be there. It should be a V8 455 4bbl engine. Looks very similar to the '70 Catalina that I had with the V8 400. HTH. -Jim
Thanks Js08016 and T S T for the helpful info. I will keep you guys updated.
You're welcome. Please do. You can also get, for $50.00, a copy of the original factory to dealer invoice for the car from Allied Vaughn. You'll have to give them the complete vehicle identification number (VIN) and they'll send you the invoice. To get to their website simply google "gm media archives". I know that 1970 is available since I was able to get an invoice for my '70 Catalina. HTH. -Jim
