How do I get into 5th gear on a 1989 Cabriolet?

I will assume you have a manual transmission, so 5th gear is all the way to the right and up.

Thanks, centaur8551. It is a manual transmission. On my car I need to quite forcefully push the gear shift to the right and up. Then it goes right in. I just wasn't doing it forcefully enough.
