87 Ramcharger wipers work randomly

My wipers work then quit later they
start again on their own. What
could be going on?

That old it's hard to say for sure, it could the brushes are bad in the wiper motor, the wiring has an intermittent connection, the switch could have a dead spot that is a hit or miss type of connection. Next time it stops try lightly tapping the wiper motor with a small hammer or even a screwdriver, if it starts running then for sure its the wiper motor and the only fix is too replace it, it's not rebuildable without special equipment.

Usually I just give the blade a tug and they start working
