Ok I'm buying a 2001 jetta 2.0, the engine is bad so I wanna swap a 1.8t.. will that bolt up to the 2.0 transmission?
on an 01 you may get more than you bargain for even if it bolts up witch I doubt, that can be found out with the parts interchange data owned by part recyclers, it's the engine control system that will give you grief
So stay away
I would, unless it was a do or die gotta have it type thing you would put much work in and enjoy every minute of it
Keep looking for a 1.8T. Although the transmissions are the same (both 02J's) the cost to swap would not be worth it. If you do decide to go down that route, throw a VR6 clutch in there as they can handle more power (around 250 at the crank).
