I heard you should never jump off 2002 saturn L series rather put it on charger is this true i need a jump but dont want to mess it up

I never heard that, just hook up the cables properly...http://www.edmunds.com/how-to/jump-start.html

Then get the car to your local auto parts store for them to load test the battery to determine if you need a replacement. If it is over 5 years old, your due.
