engine cuts out

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Runs okay upto about 40 mph then it cuts out.  What's going on?  Thanks

If it is has a carb, it is a factory defect in the bowl which over time has a build up of deposits until it stops working properly....if it's fuel-injected, then it sounds like the fuel filter is plugged. Either way, it's a fuel flow problem.

dose the ignition stay on when the car cuts out and are you able to start the car straight away
