6 speed plus overdrive?

The specs say the trans is 6 speed plus overdrive.  Do they consider 6th gear overdrive?  Is there something I am missing?  If 6th gear is overdrive then wouldn't that be a 5 speed plus overdrive?

It has 6 speeds and overdrive. I would think 5th an 6th would be overdrive.
