my 1980 F-350 back fires, solutions?

she only has 93K miles and runs nice but does back fire, this week I am changing plugs,
cap. rotor, maybe wires.

keep the plug wires apart also.. crack in the cap...

If it only backfires when you let off the accelerator or about 3 seconds after you turn off the engine it's the diverter valve for the A.I.R. (Air Injection Reaction) system, if equipped. AKA the "smog pump system". HTH. -Jim
