Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1987 f250 with a 6.9l diesel
It is hard to start but after it starts it
idles great and then after driving for a
few mins it slowly bogs out and dies
like it is running out of fuel if I put a
shot of ether in it it will start back up
and drive for a few mins then die
again it leaks fuel out of the injector
line #1 where it comes out of the
mechanical pump I’m not sure if this
is why it dies????

1 Answer

Your fuel tank delaminating causing the fuel tank switch to get clogged up with the tank lamination.. fuel switch is under the driver side almost where you sit it is on frame rail..i take it all the way off and clean it out..my 85 I had to put in a new tank
