Bench seat bolts underneath

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was removing nuts from the four bolts protruding through the frame of my
pickup under my bench seat. I had trouble with one of the bolts and it broke
off just under the frame. Underneath the truck, the bolt is welded to a part
under the frame. I wonder what are my options and how to replace the bolt.

Your option is to drill out the rest of the bolt and replace With a New one. make sure to use a wide washer underneath so the bench sits good to the floor of Your truck. I believe this bolt is a 5/16 UNC . You can also replace With a 8 mm. bolt witch is very near the same size as the 5/16 I assume that a one inch length should be sufficent, but take a measurement before going to NAPA...…………..Friendly Ivar.

Thanks. I did drill out the rest of the bolt with a cobalt drill bit. I went to a nut and bolt factory and got a matching size 10.9 rated hardened steel bolt. Now to do like MacGyver and finish it up.
