53 Chevy Belair won't start with all new everything (battery, spark plugs, generator, etc)

Asked by Nov 25, 2016 at 04:03 PM about the 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car sounds like it will start, but there is no spark.  Ran fine for a year; suddenly decided not to start.  We have tried all  we know.  Any ideas?

Bad coil or the points need adjusting or replacing. Check the spark plug wires and the cap too.

Yes, replace and adjust the points. If you don't have a feeler gauge a standard matchbook cover is close enough to get it going. Also, replace the condenser. HTH. -Jim
