My 2007 Manual ford focus won't g\shift into reverse first thing in the morning. Just had the clutch replaced. Any ideas?
The linkage bushing is outta line. They may have over tightened it or put the bushing on backwards after teh clutch job, so now it needs to warm up to get soft enough to make the throw. basically, somewhere between to gear knob and the tranny, one of the links is outta sorts.
Bushing is possible, but sometimes a new clutch has high spots on the lining that need to wear down so the disc is flat on the flywheel and pressure plate. Try putting the tranny in low then reverse as see if that helps. If it is just some high spots then the problem should go away on it's own in a few days of driving. If not then as Z stated the linkage maybe out of alignment.
