Where can i get a wiring diagram

Asked by Jul 22, 2007 at 12:52 PM about the 1995 Pontiac Trans Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Every time we get the van going, a short in a wire drains the battery. Could someone give me some instructions as to how to remedy this problem?

A wiring diagram will most likely not help in this case. First thing to do is, with the vehicle off, measure using a test light at the fuse block to see which circuits are open with the engine off. Most should not be "on," and when you find the one that is "on," you can search just that circuit using a wiring diagram. Often times a switch can stick in a contacting position, or a wire could be rubbed or chewed (by small rodents) so that it is grounding out. Find the bad circuit first to make the wiring search easier.

redundant, how can you say right off that a wiring diagram "will most likely not help" then say "you can search just that circut USING...a wiring diagram" ?
