2002 potiac grand am has no fuel pressure but the pump is runninng. i turn the key on and off several times and get good fuel pressure. Only happens every cuple days .

Sounds like either a bad fuel pressure regulator, a clogged fuel filter, or some combination thereof. Try hooking your fuel pressure tester before the filter, see if the issue remains intermittent; if so, try replacing the regulator, if not, try the filter.

There's a test port in the engine bay to test the fuel pressure. It has a black cap and looks like a tire valve. If the pressure is low, replace the filter. If it's still low, replace the pump. If the pressure is OK (45PSI), check the fuel pressure regulator.
