Question type: Car Customization

I have an 02 nissian frontier sc. I have put a 2.3 inch pulley wich is a drop from the stock 2.8. I did this a few months ago and it didn't really do exactly what I expected. Well my question is my truck is runnning lean and my check engine light is on and the diognostic test said that it was running lean and my knock senser was regestering. I was told to purchase a chip and that would correct my "lean" problem and then inturn fix my sensor. I would like to know your thoughts and or suggestions. As well as anything you can think of to help performance.

by adding the pulley you have increased the boost pressure and your ecu is not compensating for the added air by adding fuel, hence running lean, which is causing you to knock hence your knock sensor registering. A chip would override your ecu and keep the injectors open longer making it run richer which should get rid of both codes and make you feel the improvements of the underdrive pulley, so you should definetly get it chipped or tuned. Hope this helped.
