HOW DO I get my 2000 cougar out of park with a dead battery?

Simplest answer is replace the battery, or put a charger on it long enough to get it in gear.

Tom's answer is the safest way to go. You could get underneath and pop the shifter linkage. MAKE SURE THAT THE VEHICLE WON'T ROLL !!!
