2005 Mountaineer RWD - How will it handle in the snow?

Asked by km77leo Feb 03, 2011 at 04:16 PM about the 2005 Mercury Mountaineer

Question type: General

I just purchased a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer and just realized that it is a rear wheel drive vehicle rather than front wheel drive as I was told at the dealership.  I live in the Pacific Northwest and we tend to get a lot of snow and now I am worried about how it will handle.  Can anyone give me feedback on this?

Drive responsibly and it won't be an issue. Leave lots of room when braking, don't accelerate more than you need to. If I were counseling my wife I would take her to a snowy parking lot and show her how to control a slide. The biggest safety feature of a car is a responsible driver that knows how to control it.
