Problems with 2018 Chevy Colorado V6

Asked by Guru9MHYKX Jan 17, 2023 at 04:49 PM about the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Drives fine, but A/C will stop being cold, temp gauge drops to the lowest, and
fan continues to run after engine off.  When fan stops I can removebattery
terminal, wait a few seconds reconnect and everything works correct again.

Please help with ideas

That’s what they do when the computer senses a cooling system problem, doesn’t matter if it’s too hot or too cold. I recommend a live data scan at your favorite shop. Disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting will eventually cause you a bunch of electronic problems and possibly a blown computer.

This is a problem with the coolant temperature sensor or the wiring going to the sensor. When the computer loses the signal from the coolant temperature sensor it assumes that the engine is overheating. The air conditioning is shut down and the radiator cooling fans come on at high speed. The temperature gauge will also go down to cold because of the lost signal from the coolant temperature sensor. Hope that helps! Jim
