Electronic Stop Start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My ESS is not functioning and has an operating message "Stop/Start
unavailable Battery charging."   This is the second time I have taken it in to
have it repaired (the first approx. one year ago).  Last time after three visits
they installed a new battery and replace the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS).
This time they recharged the battery and stated there is nothing else they
can do.  Apparently all Cherokees now have a second battery to assist in the
running of the ESS - if the battery is not 100% charged then the ESS does
not function. So they advised to live with it.  Any suggestions on what the
next best steps should be.  Live with it?

Having the same issue, 2nd time in for this and they recharged the battery nad it happened again! kept it overnight on a slow charge to see what if anything was drawing against the battery. They called this morning and said all is good, nothing showed up, said possibly we are leaving something plugged in and it is draining the battery, nothing plugged in or anything like that! Said Chrysler will not ok to replace battery as it shows ok, but something is draining it, blaming it on us!! At a loss here on what to do???
