engine variable timing solenoid miles?

Asked by GreenTurtle Jul 12, 2019 at 05:24 PM about the 2012 Subaru Outback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is it reasonable that an engine variable timing solenoid needs to be replaced
on a 2012 Outback, 140,000 miles? Warning lights came on, and diagnostic
code showed solenoid. Will be getting an oil change (have driven 5,000 miles
on semi-synthetic). Thanks

Seven years and 140,000 miles and you are surprised that parts need replacing?

I know I shouldn't be surprised. We've replaced a few parts along the way. We had two days of wildfire smoke; I wondered whether that made things worse. Thanks
