how do I operate the air pump provided by Volvo in lieu of a spare tire?

Asked by Jan 14, 2017 at 08:39 AM about the 2011 Volvo S40

Question type: General

Wish to know how to inject air for a slow leak using  the pump. Not interested in injecting Gel.

Plug the compressor into the 12V power socket in the car, turn it on, put the hose end over the schrader valve on the tire by pushing or screwing on depending on the connector. Fill to the recommended air pressure. Probably 32lbs. Use a tire pressure gauge between adding air.

Then have a local garage find the leak in the tire, most likely a nail or screw punctured the tire. You can also have a slow leak around the bead of the tire. If the tire is still quite new, it can be repaired.

Helpfull but I did as you suggested and pushed button which I assumed would initiate the fill process. The the tire started to lose air when the button didn't seem to work perhaps because I didn't screw on schrader value tight enough. I'll try againThanks

Yup. Try again and make sure you have a good connection to the tire air valve. Do they give you Fix-a-flat to put in the tire? If there is a leak of any size the tire will go flat again, quickly.
