car overheating and a/c off light in car, what would cause this

seems as if car was overheating, becuz of engine light being on. temperature guage stays stuck on cool.

Might need to change the thermostat. Also, check for coolant leaks and check the coolant level in the radiator.

It might also be the temperature sensor going bad
