I have a 2001 honda accord with 47,000 miles. It belongs to my mom. The D4 light is blinking and the check engine light is on. This tranny was recalled, is it worth fixing or not ??

No, do you see how fast I answered your question. Honda Accords in the 90s were great; I had a 1995 EX and kept it almost 20 years. Around 99 and 2000, something happened and the quality of these cars really went south. Sometimes this happens and its unfortunate that it happened to the Accord and damaged their reputation. The automatic transmission in your car was not built by Honda. It was outsourced to a third party ( think Three Stooges) and had horrible results. Also, many other things went wrong, so, you just have to wonder what in the devil was going wrong for a while. See this link to car complaints, http://www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Accord/2001/
