PKE-AJ1 is a 4 spd, RWD, (V6 3.8L V8 4.6L) "4R70W" transmission. A revised version of the AODE released in 1993 with it has lower 1st and 2nd gear ratios for better take-off acceleration. The gear ratios are: 1st: 2.84 :1 2nd: 1.55 :1 3rd: 1.00 :1 4th: 0.70 :1 Rev: 2.23 :1 . "X" is a designation for the automatic transmission design. Think of it in a generalization "7000" is the "whole" part number for the trans with AA as the revision number, "7A040" is the base part number for the tail shaft housing and "7006" is the base part number for the trans case. If you needed a new transmission you would order "XR3P-7000-AA to get the entire transmission. Contact "Tracy" here on this forum, he has stated he has much experience with newer Ford products and he might know where to send you to get the exact break down of the entire "tag".

I have the same transmission listed in the previous email. My problem is I have no sensors on the outside of the trans.I need the driven gear connected to the speed sensor, the output shaft speed sensor, and the shifter range connecter.

Can someone please simply identify this transmission. As in its actual Identity and how many gears?

So will the 7r40w, pke-ak1 xr3p-7000-br fit the 3.8 and the 4.6? I have a friend wondering he has an 01 3.8, and needs a trans, and another friend has that 7r40w trans for sale
