Can you bypass a crank sensor?

Asked by Thunderchicken96 Oct 06, 2020 at 01:15 PM about the 1999 Ford Explorer

Question type: Car Customization

I’m doing a engine swap so I went and got a
99 Ford Explorer engine. The plan was to cam
and convert to a carburetor, but I got stuck
when I seen the crank sensor. I’m trying to
find out if I can bypass it or should I just get a
different engine block? And I’m putting the
engine in a 96 Thunderbird and I recently sat it
in the car and it fit perfect, so I’m just stuck on
the sensor I’m in need of any kind of advice.

Which engine is this? If this is possible you would have to convert the engine to an old fashioned distributor.
