How do I remove the exterior mirror on a 2001 Ford Escort?

I have to repair a scratch below the mirror on the
drivers side and the mirror cannot be removed.
I removed the plastic cover and found one screw, I removed the
screw but the mirror will not come off. Thank You LZ

Hi wawrzekski! I imagine there's also a bolt or something that secures the mirror to the door. Have you approached the problem from the inside door panel? A quick call to you local Ford Service Manager will probably yield some pretty good results as well. Good luck.

How big is the scratch? My daughter had a small scratch and was $90 shy of having enough repair money, so she bought a cute plastic strip at the dollar store and glued it over the scratch. What was printed on the strip? "HELPING FOLKS CURES THE BLUES ---- THEIRS AND MINE"
