I bought a 2005 PT Cruiser

Asked by Jesse Jul 13, 2020 at 10:50 PM about the 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Now a friend of the original owner lost the key
that was the only one for the imbolizer. We
took the car to Harris Chrysler on Cook and
View in Victoria BC the shop diagnosed the
problem and told us the part and labour to get
the car to work would be $780.00 I paid them
and then they did the work. Now before the
car would start but then die right away as
soon as it turned over. Harris Chrysler said the
part they installed failed and they asked how
much do I want to spend and quoted me an
additional $1500.-$2000.00 I have the texts
that said they failed twice. Now the car does
not even try to start there is power and
everything but no effort from the engine. They
said that I’m out the money and tough luck.
What can I do I seen many ways to bypass it
on YouTube but I wanted to have it done
properly in case I wanted to resell it. I’m out
the cash and worker off than when I took it in
any ideas I am stressed and need my car for
work. Any ideas I would be eternally grateful

The dealer is hosing you. Find a local mechanic to help you. You need a proper key programmed to the car for it to stay running. I don't have a clue what part they replaced for $780 and or saying you owe another $2K, that is just insane.

Get A lawyer sue them because that is total incompetence on there part & you should not pay You are just being ripped off. Put the word out on face book & every person you know not to deal with these people, put a sign right near there shop if necessary. GOD BLESS & GOOD LUCK.
