Check transmission fluid after car is wormed up and while running. If fluid is ok, jack car up and climb under it to see if linkage is connected and actually moving. If everything checks out ok, u have transmission issues

the cable can be found on top of the transmission on the driver's side. get help to locate it and be careful when checking; u don't want the car to roll away unintended. be safe.
