You need a new wiring harness for the car. That one is 47 years old, and they were never meant to last that long. Have you tried IPD.com: http://www.ipdusa.com/ They used to carry a lot for the 1800, as well as the 120/140 series cars. Nice!! You don't see many of these today. I had three of them back in the day; a '63, a '65 and a '67 that someone before tried to turn it into a hill climb car. I didn't finish that one before it got sold. Be grateful you didn't have one of the original Jensen cars with British Lucas wiring, relays, switches, etc. It wouldn't have lasted this long. Yours should have Bosch which was much, much better, but still restoring a car, any car that old, its a very good idea to replace the wiring anyway. It gets old a brittle with time, heat, cold, etc. And you wouldn't want your freshly restored classic to have an electrical fire after you've just completed everything else, would you? Now, about the Smith gauges.... LOL

I rewired two MG's and a Triumph, but the Volvo's for me were 30 yrs ago and were in much better condition then... even if they were already 15-20 yrs old.
