The 2000 Hyundai Elantra GLS sedan is the only trim available and comes with a 140 hp, 2.0 liter inline 4-cylinder engine. There are two transmission options, the standard 5 speed manual or the optional 4 speed automatic. Gas mileage for this trim is 22-24 miles per gallon city and 31-33 miles per gallon highway.
Air conditioning comes standard, as does a tilt steering column, power windows, power locks, a radio and a cassette player. Options include cruise control, a CD player, and a manual sunroof. Safety features include standard driver and passenger airbags, with optional anti-lock brakes.
