The car was a great value for the money I spent. It had plenty of features, and ultimately great MPG and price. I loved that it still has manufactuer warranty and is a certified-pre owned. I did wish it supported Hyundai's digital key, but the BlueLink is another phenomenal feature, other than having to pay every year. For other cars in this class such as the Civic, Corolla, Forte, K4, Impreza etc. It is reasonably priced, only competitive with the K4. If I wanted all of these features in one of those other vehicles especiallt the Civic I would be paying significantly more.

I live the interior and the way it drives. It feels very much my style and I can see myself driving it every day.

I was going to buy a new one except for a design I cannot live with. The passenger side grab bar is unsightly. If something falls on the floor, you wont be able to grab it at a stop light. It is located between the gear shift and the passenger side. Looks like a hospital bed rail. Pass. Drives great. Ive bought 4 Hyundais so I like them but I would rather go for an older model without the bar. Thats what I am looking for now.

CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2024 Hyundai Elantra prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2024 Hyundai Elantra cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $20,170 |
| Year-Round Low | $19,472.60 |
| Year-Round High | $21,116.48 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $21,110 |

Prices have softened 4.45% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 6,236 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.
If you find a listing below $19,472.60, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra a good car?
The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is a strong pick if you want a compact sedan that leans into style, tech, and driving character rather than plain transportation. It earns a 3/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating.
The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.
The Elantra stands out with bold exterior design, a driver-focused cabin layout, and a wider range of powertrains than many rivals. It also feels more substantial than the budget-car image Hyundai once had, and the 2024 refresh adds more style and standard equipment.
Trade-offs include a polarizing exterior and interior materials that can feel cheap in places. The base engine is also underwhelming, especially if you spend a lot of time on the highway.
With 31.8% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra reliable?
The 2024 Elantra is positioned as a well-sorted compact sedan with a long warranty and three years of maintenance included, which helps reduce early ownership costs. Hyundai also frames it as a car that has matured into a more complete package, with better driving feel and stronger overall substance than earlier generations.
Its performance notes point to a broad lineup that includes efficient non-hybrid trims, a more engaging N Line, and a hybrid setup aimed at strong fuel economy. That range gives you flexibility, but it also means you should pay close attention to which powertrain you’re buying and how it was used.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a neglected example with the wrong trim or powertrain for your needs, so condition and maintenance history matter.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a proper inspection. Prioritize body condition, tire wear, brake feel, and signs of uneven use, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. It also helps to confirm that the features you want are actually present on the specific trim you’re looking at.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE, SEL, and Limited trims lose the lowered stance and sporty bumpers that help the car look more upscale, and the base SE also misses the custom gauge layouts found on upper trims.
- Powertrain: The common 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque with a CVT; it is adequate around town but weak and loud on the highway. The N Line’s 1.6-liter turbo-four makes 201 hp and 195 lb-ft and is much livelier, though its dual-clutch transmission can be clunky from a stop.
- Safety package: The SE and N come standard with forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, a driver attention monitor, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and auto high beams. SEL trims with the Convenience Package and Limited trims add cyclist detection, front cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. The Limited adds rear emergency braking, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.
- Infotainment: The SE uses an 8-inch touchscreen, while SEL-and-above trims get a 10.25-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not supported, and blind-spot cameras are limited to the Limited trim.
- Fuel efficiency: Non-hybrid trims return 32/41/36 mpg in the base SE and 31/40/34 mpg in the SEL and Limited. The N Line drops to 28/35/31 mpg.
Which 2024 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?
The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited, N Line, and N.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The SE gives you the essentials, but it lacks the larger touchscreen, custom gauge layouts, and the more upscale feel of higher trims.
- Sweet-spot trim: The SEL is the best value if you want the stronger tech setup without jumping to the pricier performance or luxury-oriented versions.
- Premium/top trim: The Limited is the most feature-rich choice, adding blind-spot cameras, Highway Driving Assist, a 360-degree camera system, parking sensors, and more advanced driver assistance.
- Off-road trim: The N is not the right pick for typical daily driving if you want comfort and efficiency first; it is the performance-focused choice.
The SE and N come standard with the core safety suite, while SEL Convenience and Limited trims add more advanced driver-assistance features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 6,236 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.45% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 86.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $19,472.60, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?
The current average of $20,170 sits slightly below last year's $21,110.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. If you plan to sell later, the softer trend means you should expect some depreciation pressure rather than a quick rebound.
The good news is that the Elantra still has broad appeal thanks to its styling, efficiency, and trim variety. A well-kept example with desirable equipment should hold up better than a bare-bones car with the weak base engine.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra safe?
The 2024 Elantra earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four stars for the front passenger and five stars for the driver and for front and rear passengers in two side tests. The IIHS named it a Top Safety Pick.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
The standard safety suite includes forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, a driver attention monitor, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and auto high beams. SEL trims with the Convenience Package and Limited trims add cyclist detection, front cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. The Limited also adds rear emergency braking, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.
There are caveats to keep in mind: IIHS did not perform all of its standard crash tests, and its newer frontal crash test showed worse results than the 2021 Elantra. Rear passengers also had a higher injury risk despite added rear side airbags, and there are no frontal knee airbags.
Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.45% compared with last year.
- The 2024 refresh adds more style and standard equipment.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $19,627, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $20,170 average.
- It offers excellent value for money.
The bottom line: If you want the freshest version with updated styling and more standard equipment, the 2024 is the better all-around choice. If your priority is saving money, the 2023 is the smarter path because it costs less while still delivering strong value.
