Used 2024 Hyundai Elantra for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2024 Hyundai Elantra cost?

Prices have softened 5.86% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,989 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is a qualified yes for you if you want a compact sedan that emphasizes style, versatility, and value over pure polish. It earns 3/5 from users and 7.3/10 from experts.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

The Elantra’s strongest case is that it offers multiple powertrain options and a broader trim range than many rivals, while the 2024 refresh adds more style and standard equipment. On the downside, the design can be polarizing, the base engine is underwhelming, and the interior materials can feel cheap.

The 36.1% share of good and great deals suggests there are still worthwhile listings if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

The 2024 Elantra is positioned as a well-constructed compact sedan that moved beyond Hyundai’s older bargain-car image, and its long warranty and included maintenance help support that reputation. The expert review also describes it as properly sorted and balanced for everyday use.

Its performance notes point to a car that can be comfortable and economical, while still being sporty and entertaining when you choose the right trim. The cost-effectiveness content adds that three years of maintenance and a five-year/60,000-mile warranty come on every Elantra.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a cheaper, higher-mileage example may not feel as refined if it has been neglected or heavily worn.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you are considering a higher-mileage car or one with visible wear. Focus on condition, equipment, and whether the trim level matches what you want, since the Elantra’s feature spread is wide.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE, SEL, and Limited trims differ noticeably in appearance and equipment, and the base SE misses some of the more upscale touches found higher up. The SE, SEL, and Limited also lose the lowered stance and sporty bumpers that complement the body, while the N Line adds a more aggressive look.
• Powertrain: Most trims use a 2.0-liter inline-four with 147 horsepower and a CVT, which is adequate around town but weak and loud on the highway. The N Line’s 1.6-liter turbo-four with 201 hp and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is the stronger choice if you want more personality.
• Safety package: The SE and N come standard with forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, a driver attention monitor, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and auto high beams. SEL trims with the Convenience Package and Limited trims add cyclist detection, front cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control, while the Limited also adds rear emergency braking, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.
• Infotainment: The SE has an 8-inch touchscreen, while SEL-and-above trims get a 10.25-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not supported, and blind-spot cameras are available only on the Limited trim.
• Fuel efficiency: Non-hybrid trims are rated at 32/41/36 for the base SE, 31/40/34 for the SEL and Limited, and 28/35/31 for the N Line.

Which 2024 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 7 trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited, N Line, N, Hybrid Blue, and Hybrid Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and can live with the simpler 8-inch screen and fewer upscale features. It makes the most sense if your priority is basic transportation with strong efficiency.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen and a more complete feature set without jumping into the pricier performance or luxury-oriented trims.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the most comfort and tech in the standard lineup, including blind-spot cameras, Highway Driving Assist, and the most complete safety package.
• N Line: This is the trim to buy if you want the most balanced driving experience, since it combines the stronger turbocharged engine with a firmer but still comfortable chassis setup.
• N: Pick this only if you want the full performance experience and can accept the trade-offs that come with it.
• Hybrid Blue: This is the efficiency-focused choice if fuel economy matters more than performance.
• Hybrid Limited: This is the most upscale hybrid option if you want efficiency and more equipment together.

The Limited trim gets the most complete safety and driver-assistance package, while the SE and N have the standard core safety suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,989 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.86% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,265, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $19,265 sits slightly below last year's $20,464.

That decline suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make the car easier to purchase now than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that also means you should expect some depreciation pressure if you buy at today’s average and try to resell soon. The good news is that the current price range is relatively tight, which can help if you buy carefully and keep the car in strong condition.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra safe?

The 2024 Elantra earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with four stars for the front passenger and five stars for the driver and for front and rear passengers in the two side tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named it a Top Safety Pick.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite includes forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, a driver attention monitor, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and auto high beams. SEL trims with the Convenience Package and Limited trims add cyclist detection, front cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control, while the Limited adds rear emergency braking, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.

A key caveat is that IIHS did not perform all of its standard crash tests, and the newer frontal crash test showed worse results than the 2021 Elantra. Rear passengers also had a higher risk of injury despite added rear side airbags, and there are no frontal knee airbags.

Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.86% compared with last year.
• The 2024 refresh adds more style and standard equipment.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $18,678, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $19,265 average.
• It is roomy, safe, efficient, and technologically advanced.

The bottom line: Buy the 2024 if you want the fresher styling and updated equipment, especially if you find a clean listing near the low end of the range. If your priority is saving money, the 2023 is the better value path because it delivers much of the same core appeal for less.
