How much does the 2023 Hyundai Elantra cost?

There are 3,953 listings available, which suggests you should have a solid range of choices.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Hyundai Elantra earns a 4.9/5 user rating, and our experts give it an 8.7/10 overall rating.

The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its fuel economy, safety features, and value for the price, and they also like the stylish design and tech features. The main trade-offs are interior quality and cabin noise, including cheap-feeling materials and rattles.

That fits the Elantra’s role as a roomy, safe, efficient, and technologically advanced compact sedan that can cover basic transportation, hybrid efficiency, and sporty driving in one lineup. Good and great deals account for 32.9% of listings, which supports the case for shopping carefully.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as dependable in the ways that matter most for daily use, especially through praise for its fuel economy, safety features, and value. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by describing the car as easy to live with, cost-effective, and equipped with a powertrain warranty and complimentary scheduled maintenance on new models.

That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to cabin condition, noise, and service history so you can avoid examples that have been worn harder than average.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Elantra?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if it appears clean on paper. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re shopping a higher-mileage example or one with signs of interior wear. Focus on cabin condition, road noise, and how well the tech and driver-assistance features work in real use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans from the SE to the Limited, with the Limited looking and feeling more upscale than its price suggests. The SEL Convenience package adds 17-inch wheels and the N Line gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and 10.25-inch touchscreen, so base trims miss some of the richer presentation.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 horsepower, a CVT Hyundai calls IVT, and front-wheel drive. The ride and handling are described as compliant and predictable, and the car averaged 33 mpg in testing.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic high beams, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and safe exit warning. Higher trims add cyclist detection, intersection turning assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and Highway Driving Assist.
• Infotainment: Available 10.25-inch digital instrumentation and infotainment displays bring Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, connected services, dynamic voice recognition, navigation, and wireless smartphone charging. Bluetooth is wireless, but CarPlay and Android Auto require a USB connection.
• Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle averaged 33 mpg, and the official EPA rating is 34 mpg.

Which 2023 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2023 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited, Blue, N Line, N.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point if you want the lowest-cost way into the Elantra lineup and care most about value.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more equipment without pushing you into the pricier upper end.
• Limited: This is the right pick if you want the most upscale feel in the standard lineup, with a cabin that looks and feels more premium than its price suggests.
• Blue: Choose this if fuel economy is your top priority and you want the hybrid efficiency story.
• N Line: Pick this if you want a sportier setup, including the 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and touchscreen.
• N: This is the enthusiast choice, with the most performance-focused character in the lineup and the only manual-transmission option.

The safety package is especially strong across the lineup, and higher trims add more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Elantra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards patience and comparison shopping.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,953 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.99% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,683, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $18,792 sits slightly below last year's $19,574.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper resale expectations later. If you plan to sell in a few years, the current pricing trend means you should expect a more competitive used market rather than a rising one. Strong value positioning can still help the car remain attractive to shoppers who want a lot of equipment for the money.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Elantra safe?

The 2023 Hyundai Elantra earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal crash protection and five-star ratings in all other crash-test categories.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite includes automatic high-beam headlights, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, safe exit warning, a driver monitoring system, and a rear-seat reminder system. Higher trims add cyclist detection, intersection turning assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, and Highway Driving Assist.

The main caveat is that the IIHS did not carry forward the prior model year’s Top Safety Pick rating for 2023.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines roomy packaging, strong safety, and broad trim variety.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $16,967, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $18,792 average.
• It offers strong value, a roomy cabin, and impressive standard safety.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $19,422, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $18,792 average.
• It adds more style and standard equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, features, and market availability, the 2023 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 is the value play; if you want the newer refresh and can spend more, the 2024 is worth a look.
