It seemed that after all of the excitement surrounding its 35th Anniversary and the Cobra recalls in 1999, Ford needed to let its Mustang recover for a year. As a result, the 2000 Ford Mustang remained largely unchanged from the 1999 model.
The only real excitement came from 2000 Cobra R. This car was made to race, not to drive through Manhattan. The 5.4-liter DOHC V8 achieved 385 horsepower, could go from 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds, and had a top speed of just under 175mph.

You won't find a better four seat convertible. I have had many cars, and this one is by far the most fun for the lowest price tag. I'm not just talking sale price. I also mean that it has been a low maintenance vehicle over the several years I've owned it.May 17, 2015

Love the style (the hood especially), and that 5.4 liter 4 valve! With only 300 made, it truly is a exclusive sports car. Rarely seen, rarely heard, these are in a class all their own. This car is not for everyone though.Mar 31, 2015

I like it because its aggressive. Not your normal Mustang of coarse. Very stylish and handles well. But not a good car to drive in the rain. you must be careful when hitting the gas because it will get away from you.Oct 08, 2014

This is a great car for someone who wants an affordable car with a good amount of torque and power but still gets fairly good fuel economy due to the low gearing. Also, the styling is always good with the mustang.Aug 26, 2013

This is a timeless classic ford mustang and is very fun to drive. It is sporty looking and you have the ability to put the top down on a hot summer day and enjoy the breeze. This vehicle is a real head turnerApr 08, 2013

I love everything about this car. It wouldn't be for sale if I could afford to keep both vehicles. I purchased it for my daughters graduation gift (due to the fact it was a one owner) from a local female who sold it due to the fact she needed more room. My daughter is now a new mother, and this vehicle is not infant friendly.Apr 06, 2013

Simply a head turning, rubber burning (solo course) awesome ride. Looks great, handles incredible with Eibach suspension. Flowmasters make it growl when it needs to. The motor is bullet proof. Drivetrain is great. Sunburst gold is a unique color and is really won over by Mustang enthusiasts.

V8 power is robust! I get around 22-23 MPG on the highway. The exhaust sound is awesome. The Mach stereo system sounds great, and the instrument cluster is easy to read and watch. The leather interior is very comfortable (small tear on drivers seat). It has its typical small wear interior and exterior, but for a car of this year I like to say its in almost great condition.Feb 12, 2012

not bad on gas espically on the highway. gets 25 on road trips.

Performance. decent. I can burn the tires going into second. 0-60 about 6.9-7.1. amazing handling. I can take a turn a 70mph when the warning speed in 30.
Build Quality. some problems. the ac drips right on the right header. I have had to repair it twice.
Appearance. Awesome!! Nice leather inside. great paint and lots of my own stylings.
Cost of ownership. bad. I pay $40 a week just to and from school and work. gets about 16 mpg city and 20 hwy
Fun Factor. very fun car. very very fun.Sep 30, 2010

For a v-6 this had some real ball and could lay a patch of rubber. Handling was weak but it was no GT. I had no problem with this car for the time that we owned. This car was fun to drive just on a daily base and this car was what they called a classless car according to R/T magazine meaning that no matter which model it is respected by all level of society. Ten years old and not one major problem. Acceleration is amazing, handles like a dream on those one lane mountain roads. Interior appearance is to my liking, simple, gets the job done, could be worse. Overall the car is fun to drive on weekends or, as I do, a daily driver.Jul 10, 2010

This is one of the best cars I think I have ever driven thats not
my own. This car has great performance, great looks, (and
don't forget the sound!) Great everything! This is a fun sporty
little car for driving around and showing off. May 06, 2010

It's a Mustang and an icon, this car is fun to drive and it's designed to go fast. This car will last for a while as long as you keep it in good shape. Legends never die and this car has not gone one year without production.Feb 02, 2010

Heavy foot=NO GAS, I get 10-12 mpg. She is fairly
responsive, or responsive enough to at least get a few
tickets with! She is a very fun car to drive and the
grumble from the exhaust is music to my ears!

It is an amazing car all around. Its very sleek looking! For the price, its done more than enough for me on Friday nights on empty streets with a few friends or challengers. I have an amazing pipe job on it so i wouldn't recommend public street racing, as you will attract every cop within 5 miles. :) Dec 13, 2009

I love my car and try to keep it in great running shape. I do not race this car around town. I love to just get in it and drive, drove all the way to the beach in California one day and turned around and drove home to Vegas!Nov 18, 2009

I love my mustang. 5 speed manual. Competition orange!!
Cant beat it. Nothing wrong looks new. Runs great and the

I love the way it looks, and for the price i dont think you can beat the power. It has been relatively cheap to maintain but the intake manifold was expensive. The car is a ton of fun to drive especially being a 5 speed. Considering I only paid 2,000 for it with 100k it has been a great car!Aug 25, 2009

I like that it is a sports car, but I don't like that it is not good to drive in the winter or how in tends to hydroplane when there is a lot of water on the road. Overall I love it!!Jul 26, 2009

0-60 at 6.6sec, great handling, can go 120 mph without difficulty and change lanes at the same time...can keep up ride with 650s (for a while:)
No squeeks, no rattles
Like new inside & out.
Kinda poor milage but it has an aftermarket turbo installed.
Fun as hell.Jul 02, 2009

It was cheap. Its fast. Classic V8 Sound.... and Torque!
The mod options are endless. Personally beat 350Zs,
G35s, Cobalt SS, new Charger R/T, and a 4th Gen
Camaro Z28....all with minor bolt ons.... not to
mention its been very reliable. Jun 19, 2009

This car is so fun to drive and having a stick shift makes it all the better! I love how it feels, runs, sounds, and moves! It is simply AMAZING!Mar 29, 2009

I absolutely love this car. It keeps me in the comfort of an American style sports car: roomy, with space to expand (both passenger count and engine size), while also providing a low center of gravity and light body, combined with smaller wheels to give me that rice-burner-esque handling.
However, with this car being an all-rounder, it doesn't exceed at any one task, other than looking sexy. After a good bath and wax, it seems to be smiling at the camera with every little sparkle in its metallic finish paint. Other than that though, in sports car terms, it is mediocre in all departments.
It can accelerate to 60MPH quickly, but easily beaten out by smaller cars with less weight, or bigger cars with more power. It also has good handling, but will be far outshined by other models such as the Nissan 350Z or even something as simple as a Honda Civic or other import. And it's not just in the import market either. If put up to the test, it would almost certainly be beaten out by new models of the Cobalt from Chevrolet, or the Pontiac G6.
To round it out, it is a joy to drive. My previous car was a good condition Chevy Camaro, late 80's model. Being only a small 3.1L V6 I didn't get much of that American Muscle action you'd expect, and the heavy frame made my handling suffer, so switching from that to the 2000 Ford Mustang is an upgrade in every department, with a lighter body weight, a larger engine (3.8L V6), and a shorter body combined with lower center of gravity, it makes every drive that much more enjoyable.Jun 09, 2008

Really love my car. I loved the jeep I had too, but since I have a kid now it's not practical to manually put a top up. So, if your looking for something a little bit fun but also very practical, it's great. It's a solid car, it handles well, and I've never had any major problems with it. I did recently change the back brakes and rotors. They're are disks and require that special tool to turn that spreads the calipur back apart. I will definitely say that being a girl and having very little upper body strength....I'll never do it again!!! Other than that, It's great.May 26, 2008

I love this car. it is more comfortable to drive than a buick, and it will do Wicked donuts. power seats, windows, locks, factory premium sound, 195hp, 220 ft/lbs is just enough to have fun but not so much you'll get yourself into trouble. looks great and handles great.. and chicks love it. hahaMar 08, 2008

I've owned my mustang for about six months now and haven't had a problem yet( knock on wood). It handles very well when turning at higher speeds and is very responsive. the is very low road noise. the only problem i have is that the door speakers vibrate in the door a little to loud, but thats with any aged vehicle. The gas milage is very acceptable as well. overall it is a great car!!!! just wish you could a little bit bigger rims on it with out them rubbing(18+).Mar 12, 2007
I have a 2000 Ford Mustang V6 and automatic transmission I installed a transmission from an 04 Ford Mustang V6 automatic everything went in smooth however the car speedometer is reading 120 miles an hour when it's only moving 20 and it's almost like hitting a rev limiter and missing. any help is greatly appreciated
My 2000 Mustang is an automatic. I'm looking to replace and swap the transmission. Would a 2001 Mustang Transmission fit/work in it? Is there a difference?
2000 mustang v6 3.8 it goes through the gears fine but when you go to pass a car it revs up but does not accel to pass the car can some one help please
