The turn of the century brought a complete restyling to the 2000 Monte Carlo. Chevy seemed to miss its classic Monte Carlos, and the 2000 model featured ample "retro" styling. The vertical taillights returned, as did a stylized rear bumper and wheel flares.
Gone for 2000 was the Z34, and it was replaced by the return of the SS. The LS remained the base trim, though its engine got a bit of a boost; the 3.4-liter, 180-horsepower V6 had 20 horses more than the 1999 Monte. The standard engine for the SS was the 3.8-liter, 200-horsepower V6 formerly found in the Z34.
Drivers love the styling of the vehicle, especially the soft leather seats, yet there have been some maintenance issues, including clunking steering wheels and engine trouble.

I absolutely love my car! It has been extremely reliable, the maintenance and repair have been minimal. It is beautiful, comfortable and fun to drive. It will go from 0 to 60 FAST. Excellent handling whether going 45 or 85! Gas mileage is pretty ok too. Oct 08, 2014

I do not dislike anything about these cars. I also own a 1974 version.They ride nice, look sharp and handle wonderful. My last one was even good in the snow. We have a family of 5 and even being only 2 doors did not affect anything for us. These cars have always been dependable. Aug 02, 2013

Like everything. Bought from an older couple who bought it brand new and took very good care of it. Have future mods planned but need to get a few things taken care of first...Motor mount, front bushings and a good tune up. Sep 02, 2010

The acceleration is awsome even considering it only has 220 hp and 220 tourqe. after about 110 km it is a little slow, but i have had it up to 195 km the rims are 17's but are old and i am needing new ones gets about 400 km to a tank. the interior is awsome all leather and fully loaded with sun roof heated seats and alot more. car is an alright drive more of a slow rider kinda thingDec 04, 2009

I love my car! Has balls and looks sweet what more can you ask for. The performance is great, it has the 3.8 cant beat that. I got a steal on this car original cost or asking price was 10000 i got it for 7,500 with a Lumina trade in haha. Love it htough couildnt .ask for anything moreNov 12, 2008

I love my car! It's the perfect size, sporty but still has lots of room. It handles great and is fun to drive. It's also good on gas mileage especially for the size of car that it is. I know a few people who own Monte Carlos just like mine and they love theirs as well. I would recommend the Monte Carlo to anyone...they're great cars!Aug 26, 2008

This is a great car if your not looking for a really fast car. It has a great ride, very quiet, yet still can get up and go. These cars are built very well. I have had mine a year and the only money i have put into it is for general maintenance. Both the interior and exterior look great. The interior is very organized and funtional, and the exterior is beautifull. I usually get around 21 MPG in town.Jul 21, 2008
