The Camaro continues to build on its reputation as a classic pony car with the 2000 model. While the dash puts controls within easy reach of the driver, it hearkens back to its 1967 roots, when the average driver was shorter. Ton of fun to drive around, you always feel in control. nice tight steering wheel, easy to work on the front of the engine, never had any major issues with mine. Great daily commuter car for around town or even on the high way. The 5 speed is a great transmission and the 500 watt monsoon stereo system sounds great.Apr 26, 2014

There is nothing that I do not like about this car. It is fun to drive has good power and acceleration. It has the Corvette LS1 engine in it to enhance the driving experience. This is a good project car since it has never been modified, there can be a lot of extra power added to it.Dec 24, 2013

Bought this as a sporty weekend car with a manual 6 speed trans but love it so much I find myself driving it almost daily. Driven on vacation and it rides smoothly on most roads but a little stiff on bumpy back roads. Managed to get over 27 mpg on the highway even running mid-grade fuel. Really moves when you floor it and have a tank of premium not much out there for its price will pass you.Dec 10, 2013

It is a flyer! I recently sold my 69 Corvette 427/390hp 4 speed coupe and I know this Camaro would have blown its doors off in a head-to-head drag race. It is probably the fastest and quickest car I have ever owned. I have taken it to the drag strip on three occasions just for grins and it amazed me with its performance. This basically stock car, on street tires, ran a very respectable 13.44 sec. @ 107.43 mph in the quarter mile. That with 2.73 rear gears, set up for highway cruising. Can't imagine what it would have done with 3.42s. It still runs like a big hoss. Great acceleration to get on the highway or just to put a smile on your face.

My girl is a beautiful looking car for this generation of Camaro. The 2000 is still in the outstanding sleek and classic build that makes Camaros so popular and allows them to look turbo-charged whether driving down the road or sitting in the driveway. This particular car has an understated powerful engine under the hood (California Covert Package) yet she gives nothing away at the light. No loud glass-packs, no give away that this girl can take your silly 5.7 Mustang for a walk with no problem.Jan 18, 2013

Great all around car that needs its little tweaks from a few aftermarket parts to make the performance, brakes, hadling, and fuel economy up to date. As long as you do the scheduled maintenance when the time calls it has no problems. Appearance is good not great an aftermarket body kit does a lot depending on your choice of style. Maintenance is a little on the costly side on certain parts. Gas mileage depending on transmission is good to bad. Sep 18, 2012

Have owned 7 Camaro's so far and this is the first 4th gen car and by all means is better than any other one's I've owned. Not the fastest one but the easiest and most comfortable too drive, has plenty of guts with the LS1 and 6 speed manual. Has over 130000 miles still runs great no leaks or oil consumption. This is my favorite car, in stock form the car ran a 13.6 in the 1/4 mile. after Long
tube headers, ORY-pipe, V-Force Muffler, SLP intake, Ported Throttle Body,
EGR/AIR Delete, and Computer Tune the car ran a 12.9 in the 1/4 mile. Driving at
80 MPH on the freeway i average 23-25 MPG if i wanted to i probably could

acceleration on this car is great awesome i put performance brakes so it brakes nice and i am working on the suspension to better the handling but stock is good
i have never had to put any repairs into the car besides my performance up grades i wanted appearance wise is a sexy car and costum interior done by myself
is allright on gas for the pull it has i do my maintenance work so is good on that

All show no go! OK handling, good braking, very poor acceleration. No major repairs in just over 90,000 mi. Gas mileage was poor18 - 20 average mpg. Looked neat but function was sorely lacking. Very small trunk, and when the rear seats were folded forward, for more room, every thing was on display for the whole world to view. Car was fun to look at, not to drive. Great performance compared to the '89 full-size GMC pick-up I had before. The only issue with building quality has been a perpetual squeaking, and the interior (especially dash/side panels), aren't made to handle much force so it gets dinged up easily. The car gets great gas milage on the highway-especially if you can set the cruise-but in town it's not the best. Regular maitenance keeps it running awesome. And it is a very fun car to have. Kinda stiff (at least mine is-other camaro owners say my car is extremely stiff compared to there's), but I love it. May 01, 2010

Good acceleration...hmmm not so good on the handling. Could use a few add-ons to help. No major problems. Avg gas mileage is 18mpg under normal driving conditions around town. It is fun to drive...gets a bit slippery sometimes if you put your foot to the floor...but traction control help. :)Nov 18, 2009

Nothing I don't like, really a great car my dream car. She has a lot of work done now and well she is not anywhere near a slow car. Best bang for your buck (BY FAR), great looks, great history, amazing fuel mileage for the type of car, very good engineering, amazing motor (LS-1). My car makes 657.8 HP at the crank...and i still get 21.5 MPG. Car is amazing fun to drive, easy to beat Mustang pray as well, lol. Bad things? Factory window motors LOVE to go out. The performance is the best bang for your buck out there. The build quality isn't terrible, its not a mercedes lol. The exterior of the car is amazing, I love the way it looks, especially with my own touch added to it. The cost of owning it is pretty low, I have never had to replace anything major, and gss mileage is pretty good at somewhere around 18 mpgs (as long as I stay out of the throttle). Performance - wow, ridiculous in a straight line, handling isn't bad but could be a little better.
Build Quality - road noise is a little problem but if u get on it the exhaust drowns it out.
Appearance - black makes everything better, interior feels a little plasticky but who cares its a drivers car.
Cost of owership - 26 mpg(unless u got a lead foot) pretty sweet for a v8, insurance is insane
Fun Factor - ahahaha down shift to first and nail the gas around a 90 degree corner in a 300hp rear wheel drive beast, pretty fun.Aug 01, 2009

2000 SS Camaro 6 speed LS1. car is stealth, from the black paint, dark tinted windows, and black wheels! The wheels are 19 inch Corvette style 5 spoke with powdercoated centers. The motor is 5.7L LS1 and is pretty much stock except for the K&N Filter. After the Y-pipe we added a FLOWMONSTER Chambered Exhaust in 3" with a single Black Chrome exhaust tip, again for the stealth look (the SS emblem from the back was also removed so it looks like a 6cyl from the rear) The car sounds GREAT, Its loud and gives an old muscle car tone.

A poor mans supercar that can get up to 30mpg with good gas. I average 22mpg with garbage gas. You dont have to worry about merge speed. ..
But it is best for a single person than a family man...

The American power and solid build of the car Rocks. It looks sleek and with the Magna Flow it sounds like a beast. The only thing I don't like about my car is that it is a V6 and not a V8. The V6 is okay, but the transmission on the car sucks. The first two gears don't shift evenly. The steering is great, but the braking is not were I want it to be. The interior is my biggest beef against the car, the stock interior is not attractive. The gas mileage is great on the highway, and the maintenance is fairly low if well maintained.Sep 12, 2008

Very strong LS1 car. Fast Posi-Trac acceleration off of a stop, and strong throughout the RPM range. No Speed Governor, and I got it to 145 before backing off. Easily spun tires, slid, and was good for purposely causing understeer. Very strong mid-13 second car.

Why is my brake pedal "soft"?
I recently had new brake lines installed on my 2000 Camaro, and the brake pedalis now very soft and goes most of the way to the floor before the brakes stop. I brought it back to the shop and they bled the system to remove any air that might have been in the lines. To me the brakes still seem soft, but the shop says everything is fine. Any ideas on why the brake pedal travels so far now?

2 Camaros same 3.8 having same issue, oil pressure is dropping at idle
I have a 2000 and a 2001 camaro both with the 3.8. Both of them have no oil pressure at idle but it goes up when you raise the rpms. but the 2000 has a knock as well.
