It's Dodge's party, and we'll buy if we want to. You would buy too if it happened to you. On its 20th anniversary, what better way for the 2004 Grand Caravan to celebrate its entry into adulthood than by shuffling its trims and introducing a special anniversary model?
In 2004, gone is the eL, Sport, and ES. The SE remains the base model, with its 3.3-liter, 180-hp V6 engine. The SXT is the top-of-the-line model, with the eX being the value-priced edition of the SXT. Both come with the 3.8-liter, 215-hp V6. Only the SXT is available in AWD with standard ABS. All trims feature seating for seven, with dual front airbags and dual sliding doors.
For 2004, Dodge celebrates with a special SXT anniversary edition of the Grand Caravan, that offers chrome alloy wheels, leather seats, a DVD system, and anniversary badging, along with all the other features that the eX and SXT offer. In these two trims, third-row 50/50 split sitting and removeable center console can configure your cargo and passenger space, and options include power sunroof and power liftgate.
There is little that drivers find wrong with their 2004 Grand Caravan. Spacious interior, power liftgate and sliding doors, the luxury and driveability of a sedan, and a powerful engine that is quiet and gets decent fuel economy are reasons to celebrate. A big complaint is that the third row of seats does not fold flat, in anticipation of the introduction of Stow-N-Go seating for 2005.

3.8L engine is much more powerful and more reliable then the 3.3L. it has all the options except leather, but power sliding doors, sunroof, cd changer, tow package, everything works fine and easy to maintain. i bought it used and would absolutely get another one.Mar 03, 2015

We have owned 5 of the Chrysler minivans and have been very pleased with all of them. We even towed one on a dolly behind our motorhome for several years. It has all the features we need, lots of cargo space, excellent handling and good resale value.Sep 16, 2013

Accelerates slowly, brakes are a bit mushy, handling is spot on perfect. Engine light is on but we dont know what is wrong with it, no squeaks, or rattels. exterior looks so common with every car on the road, interior cloth looks pretty nice and clean. gas mileage is terrible, only 16 mpg, maintains pretty easily all together. Fun to drive most of the time.Nov 16, 2010

Great family vehicle , known for having to replace break pads . Great performance for a family van Great pickup on the highway . decent on gas depending on how lead is the foot . It is fun to drive and fully loaded especially with dvd player for the kids on long trips .Nov 14, 2009

I love the size of this mini van, I use it to buy building material. I can fit a sheet of plywood of 4x8 and close the trunk. I take it for camping trip and pack it with all the gear and even take firewood and still can fit more. Very handy but not very economic.Aug 03, 2008

I love having a van, there is so much room for everyone, I keep my nieces and nephews and with my 2 kids they all fit in their own seat! I love that the second row has a bench seat with built in safety restraints for the kids. I love the tinted windows and roof rack for vacations.Jul 17, 2008

heater fan not working
the front heater fan on my van is not working. i pulled the fuse and it looks like all the others (not blown) is there a relay on this circuit and if so is it ok to pull it and check it or would that destroy it? my napa store does not have a manual in stock and they say they can't get one that's newer than an '02. any info woukd be appreciated. happy new year!

Alternator casting broke
My wonderful 2004 Dodge Caravan with 180000 miles on it was junked because the casting bracket holding the alternator broke. This bracket is part of the front of the engine holding the water and power steering pumps. It's simply not fixable. I wonder how common is this? ever hear of this? Jim

No air blowing through the front vent
Why doesn't any heat/ac blow through the front vents? The back ac/heat blows through the vents. I have put a new front blower motor in my van and still there is no air blowing through the front vents

No power to #1 and #4 cylinder from ignition coil.
Wife's van started missing the other day. Popped hood to find ignition coil was cracked and started to melt. So I replaced the coil, wires and plugs. Still missing. So went ahead and replaced o2 sensors, camshaft sensor and crankshaft position sensor. Still missing. Took it and had the codes read (sorry do not remember exact code). But it had to do with primary power to coil. Their suggestion was faulty coil. So took off new coil and exchange it. Also replaced electrical connector to coil. Still missing. Started digging a little deeper to find out I'm not getting any power or spark to the #1 and #4 cylinder. Has anyone ever ran into this before?
