The 2016 model year marks the Dodge Grand Caravan's 32nd birthday. Which makes it about the same age as the moms and dads who look to it as the best solution for carting around their large families. For 2016, the Caravan gets a new look that fans of the Dodge Charger will like, along with an emphasis on inexpensive offerings and value.
The 2016 Dodge Caravan retains its boxy-shape, but with a new front grill that mimics the Dodge Charger’s “Split-Crosshairs” grill treatment. The look appears tough and aggressive on the sedan, and although it looks good on the Grand Caravan too, the tough tone doesn't overwhelm the van’s signature styling. The Grand Caravan will continue to be offered in four main trims, one drivetrain, and with a max seating capacity of seven, in 2-2-3 configuration (some rivals can be configured for eight).
Powering all 2016 Dodge Grand Caravans will be a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission, for a class-competitive 283 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the Toyota Sienna, which offers all-wheel drive, the Grand Caravan is available in front-wheel drive only. Fuel economy in the 2016 Grand Caravan is 17 mpg city/25 highway/20 combined, putting the Grand Caravan at the bottom of its segment, with the Honda Odyssey offering 10% better fuel economy across the board.
The Grand Caravan, however, offers plenty of innovative features of its own. The Stow ‘N Go seating can be reconfigured to turn the standard seven-passenger setup into a two-passenger van with enormous cargo space. Dodge emphasizes how the seating can be reconfigured with in seconds with just one hand, and the Stow 'N Go system is standard on all but the base model (AVP). There is also under-seat storage in the second row for when it's not folded down. The optional roof rack system--called Stow ‘N Place--allows the cross members of the roof rack to be folded into the sides of the rack, improving the vehicle's aerodynamics and making it much easier to remove snow from the roof.
The base 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan is called the AVP, for American Value Package. Families (or companies) that need or want basic 7-passenger transportation will find it here, with a bare-bones version of the AVP coming in at just $22,000. Reckoned by the pound or by the seat, this may well be the least expensive vehicle sold in the U.S. But that price does not include many of the things we now expect standard, such as Bluetooth or a compact spare, and Dodge deletes the nifty Stow ‘N Go seating in the AVP. There are two available options packages to bring those features back.
The Dodge Grand Caravan SE Plus is the value van that also comes with most of what one might expect in a base model: privacy glass, HVAC for each row, power windows in the second row and vent-style windows in the third, Bluetooth, and satellite radio. A DVD entertainment group adds a second row screen and headphones. The Grand Caravan SXT features power sliding side doors and the SXT Plus includes leather seats. Throw everything you can (including a compact spare) into the options list and your price will end up at about $35K. The 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan R/T is the sporty van in the lineup, with a re-tuned suspension that gives it more involved driving sensation.
Safety is paramount in family minvans. Dodge claims 55 safety features in the 2016 Grand Caravan, but many of those are either legally mandated (daytime running lights) or questionable in their significance (rain-sensitive wipers, remote keyless entry). One important safety feature is a rear cross traffic alert that helps enormously when backing the van out of a parking space or driveway--although surprisingly enough, a rear-view backup camera is only available in the top two trims. Perhaps the most significant new safety feature on the market is forward collision prevention (FCP), which helps prevent crashes and reduces the severity of the crash if it cannot be avoided. Dodge, however, does not offer this technology on its most family-oriented vehicle. The Grand Caravan was tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in 2015 and received the lowest possible score of Poor on the important small-frontal-overlap test, prompting the agency to issue a special bulletin, and Dodge has not announced any changes that could possibly improve this result. Compare this with the Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey, both of which have better crash ratings and offer FCP.
The Canadian-built Dodge Caravan will probably appeal best to those on a strict budget who are content with a seven-passenger van.

The drivers side headrest has deployed on its own while parked in a driveway and turned off. After inspection, the plastic brackets that retain the metal pin that is supposed to secure the headrest broke apart and released the headrest into a deployed position. This is a design flaw that should be recalled before someone becomes injured. The headrest is under a spring loaded force that the plastic was not engineered to restrain.Oct 10, 2021

This recent purchase will be my 5th dodge Caravan in 50 years. 2 with the family and 3 of my own. Cant get enough of stow n go seats for 2nd and 3rd row. The ability to fold the passenger seats down to store tools in the cargo area as a contractor is invaluable. Before I decided to get this one I had visited 12 other dealers who also had DGC. Most of them were 2019s with 39kmiles vicinity that were way overpriced. Do NOT believe ANYTHING that Car gurus tells you with their fair pricing rating system. They have no idea what fair means. There are so many other factors of a vehicle that determine a fair deal other than what Kelly Blue book says and what other dealers are offering. Also, in the car gurus listing of the caravan that I bought it mentioned no accidents and one owner. I later learned from the dealerships copy of the carfax report that it had one owner but also one minor accident. Luckily I had the opportunity to bring the vehicle to an independent mechanic nearby to evaluate it inside and out before the sale. He assured me that it was in very good condition for its year , make , model and price. He said it could use new brakes all around but would pass as is. I would have preferred both 2nd and 3rd row seats to fold into the floor but on this model only the 3rd row folds in. The 2nd row does not fold into the floor but it is a removable bench type seat. Therefore, the bottom line is that the positives of this deal far outweighed the negatives.
When you shop for a vehicle, concentrate on the quality of the deal before the quality of the dealership. Not saying that where you buy it does not matter. You could meet the worse dealership youve ever met for whatever reason but if they have the right vehicle with the right features for the right price youll only need to deal with them once or twice before you get to spend many enjoyable years with your new vehicle. 2016 Grand Caravan RT going to 3/4 hot then back to half
So last Monday my van over heated, it was in the red for less than 15 seconds before i was able to pull over and park it. turned out the Fan that i had replaced 9 months ago stopped working and there was also a small crack in the radiator. my mechanic installed new parts and after i left in the evening everything was fine. the next day i took it to them again because the temperature gage was going up to 3/4 staying there for a bit then going back down. w We're also in a heat wave right now so i don't know if that has anything to do with it. but in the last week I've also replaced the thermostat, water pump and coolant temp sensors, its still doing it and we cant figure out why. the max temp I've seen it get to before it goes back to half is 137. any ideas on what else it could be. I've pretty much had the entire cooling system replaced at this point.

Driver side sliding door
I have been trying to find a way to fix this door for months it locked shut .and know the dealer ship will take me to the cleaner in the cost to fix it. I think they should fix it for free because now it's a death trap . The actuator is already starting to go on the passenger side and they told me that it's going to cost me $800 to fix so I'm thinking great but what if it's not the actuator on the driver side so I wasted $800 on that what if it's a locking mechanism how much is that going to cost me like if I get t-boned on the passenger side then my kids will not be able to get out of the van they say in the commercials this is the most reliable van it's not now it's a f****** most deadliest freaking deathtrap anybody could have for a vehicle I can't keep affording to fix this it's a 2016 like this door got stuck shut at 80,000 kilometers in a told me it wasn't covered under the warranty I'm telling you everybody trying to talk to you do not buy a Dodge Grand Caravan or the Town & Country

I have a 2016 dodge grand caravan and every time I unlock the door or lock it it makes this loud buzzing noise, the door works fine it opens and close. But when using the unlock button from the key everyone can hear the load buzzing noise. Any idea on how to fix this will be appreciated thanks.

Air conditioner won't power on after changing battery
Changed a battery with a bad cell for a new battery. After installing, everything works fine but the air conditioner does not turn on. Install was successful without any problems. It worked just fine before installing the new battery. Is there a reset or something after battery has been disconnected. Is there a fuse to check?
