Performance - Half decent with the 350, better with the 327, good braking ability and excellent handling for '76. Build Quality - Exellent. Well built. Built like a tank. Appearance - Classic Monte Carlo styling with extremely accented fender curves. Cost of Ownership - About 17 MPG. Doesn't require excessive maintenance. Fun Factor - The most fun car to drive of any I own/ have owned.

Overview
Originally conceived as a competitor to the Ford Thunderbird, the Monte Carlo followed the hot trend of the Eighties and went through a bit of an identify crisis, eventually disappearing from the public view in 1989.
However, popular demand brought back a leaner, meaner Monte Carlo in 1995, with the family-style sedan spun off as the Lumina.
