CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Toyota Sienna
overall

Summary
With 1,830 currently listed for sale and an average price of $45,152.00, 33.4% of 2024 Toyota Siennas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Toyota Sienna 4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.
91.6% of 2024 Sienna models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Toyota Sienna stands out by blending minivan practicality with a more modern, efficiency-focused approach. Toyota offers it only as a fuel-sipping hybrid model with three rows of seating and power sliding doors, and it comes standard with plenty of safety features. The result is a family hauler that emphasizes comfort, value, and everyday usefulness while still trying to keep pace with changing buyer expectations.
Its biggest appeal is efficiency, since the standard hybrid engine delivers impressive fuel economy. The Sienna also offers optional all-wheel drive, and many shoppers may appreciate its dramatic exterior styling. At the same time, it is not trying to be a performance vehicle, and its acceleration is described as fairly pedestrian. The technology is also said to be a bit outdated, and the second-row seats cannot be removed, which may matter to buyers who want maximum cargo flexibility.

The hybrid system is excellent, it is rated for 36 mpg, however purchasing the new Sienna from Apex, North Carolina and driving it back to NY, it averaged 45 mpg for more than 500 miles, of course under mild driving.

The vehicle has some nice features but the technology is not keeping up with other automakers. According to some reviews, the line has some issues that the automaker does not take seriously and passes them off as (normal). Specifically the problem with starting the vehicle and braking quirks.

Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Generally — the 2024 Toyota Sienna earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, which puts it in a strong position for family buyers. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.
The Sienna’s appeal is rooted in its minivan practicality, three rows of seating, power sliding doors, and standard hybrid setup. That combination makes it especially relevant if you want everyday usefulness with a strong efficiency focus. The trade-offs are clear: acceleration is fairly pedestrian, and the technology feels dated.
The expert notes also point to a few compromises, including sluggish off-the-line response and a CVT that can get loud. Even so, the Sienna’s comfort, value, and family-friendly packaging make it a sensible choice if you prioritize efficiency and utility over driving excitement.
33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2024 Toyota Sienna is built around a standard hybrid powertrain, and the expert evaluation emphasizes its efficiency-focused design and everyday usability. That matters for reliability-minded shoppers because a simpler, fuel-saving family hauler often aligns well with long-term ownership priorities when it is maintained properly.
The expert also highlights Toyota’s warranty coverage and included scheduled maintenance, which adds some ownership reassurance. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about making sure the hybrid system, sliding doors, and cabin electronics have been cared for consistently.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Sienna?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are comparing higher-mileage examples or trims with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, since family use can leave visible wear in the cabin, seats, and cargo area. It is also smart to verify that the hybrid system, sliding doors, and infotainment functions all operate as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Available in LE, XLE, XSE, Woodland Edition, Limited and Platinum trim levels, the Sienna ranges from practical to well-equipped. Base trims come with cloth seats, three-zone climate control and room for eight, while upper trims add features like Bi-LED projector headlamps, leather-trimmed heated and cooled front seats, and even a built-in vacuum cleaner.
- Powertrain: Every Sienna is a hybrid minivan with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, producing 245 horsepower total. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive adds a rear motor for extra traction.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
- Infotainment: You get a nine-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a standard Wi-Fi hotspot and SiriusXM satellite radio. The system is older, and the backup camera image is grainy.
- Fuel efficiency: The hybrid powertrain gets an EPA fuel rating of 36 miles per gallon in front-wheel drive models, with slightly lower efficiency in all-wheel drive versions.
Which 2024 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2024 Toyota Sienna is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, Woodland Edition, Limited and Platinum.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the value-focused starting point if you want the Sienna’s hybrid efficiency, three-row space and standard safety equipment without paying for extras you may not need.
- XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience while staying close to the Sienna’s practical mission.
- XSE: This is the sportier-looking choice, with a black metallic mesh grille, black heated side mirrors and 20-inch dark wheels.
- Woodland Edition: This is the pick if you want the most rugged-leaning Sienna, with roof rails, crossbars, a tow hitch and a half-inch more ground clearance.
- Limited: This is the better choice if you want a more upscale cabin and more premium equipment without going all the way to the top.
- Platinum: This is the top-end option if you want the most features and the most upscale Sienna experience.
Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, so you are not giving up the core driver-assistance suite by staying with a lower trim.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Sienna?

- Inventory: There are 1,943 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.34% compared with last year.

What is the 2024 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $45,194 sits slightly below last year's $46,754.
That softer pricing trend can help you buy more carefully now, but it also suggests the market has already adjusted downward from a year ago. If you plan to resell later, the Sienna’s efficiency-focused appeal and family-friendly packaging should help keep it relevant with used buyers.
Because the current average is still near the middle of the year-round range, you are not looking at a distressed market. That can support steadier resale expectations if you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna safe?
The 2024 Toyota Sienna has been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) with four-star ratings for frontal crash and rollover protection and five-star ratings for side crash protection.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the board and includes lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking that can detect a pedestrian or cyclist, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
The expert evaluation also notes that lane-keeping assist can allow a bit of side-to-side movement, so you should test that system on your own drive to make sure it feels right to you. The IIHS gives the Sienna a “Good” score in crashworthiness and seat belt and child restraint systems, though front crash prevention is rated “Average.”
Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.34% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2024 stands out for its standard hybrid efficiency, three-row practicality and broad safety equipment.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $42,227, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $45,194 average.
- It emphasizes hybrid efficiency, roominess and standard safety features.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $47,781, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $45,194 average.
- It adds a quieter, more practical-feeling package with easier cargo use and available AWD.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current-market pricing, strong inventory and proven family utility, the 2024 is the primary path to consider. If your budget is tighter, the 2023 can save you money while keeping the same core hybrid-minivan appeal. If you want to spend more for the newer-year packaging and can stretch your budget, the 2025 is worth a look.
