On the trade-off side, the expert review points to a bouncy unladen ride and some advanced safety features that are not standard. The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with strong towing ability and a powertrain lineup that inspires confidence. The expert review also emphasizes that the truck settles down nicely once it has some weight in the bed, which supports the sense that it is built for real work rather than just light-duty commuting.

Ford also includes a three-year/36,000-mile factory warranty and a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which helps reduce early ownership risk. For used buyers, the main long-term concern is making sure prior use and maintenance history match the truck’s workload.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford F-150?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck was used for towing, hauling, or off-road driving. Pay close attention to tire wear, suspension condition, brake life, and signs of heavy-duty use in the bed and cabin. It is also worth checking that the technology and driver-assistance features work as expected, since this truck offers a lot of equipment.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL is pretty spartan, while higher trims add more comfort and luxury. The King Ranch stands out with heated and ventilated front leather seats, heated rear seats, wood trim, and ambient lighting, but some mid trims still show cheap-looking surfaces and hard plastic touchpoints.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a turbocharged 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, while the available PowerBoost Hybrid 3.5-liter turbo V6 delivers 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque. The Tremor uses a 5.0-liter V8 with 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, and the Raptor R uses a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 with 720 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque.
• Safety package: Every truck comes with Ford CoPilot 360, which includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and cross traffic alert. A 360-degree camera is recommended on higher trims, and BlueCruise is available on Tremor and up.
• Infotainment: All models get a 12-inch touchscreen running SYNC 4, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio, a 5G LTE wireless hotspot, wireless charging, and a 12-inch reconfigurable digital gauge cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid setup is rated at 22 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 23 combined.

Which 2024 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford F-150 is offered in 8 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Tremor, Raptor R, and Platinum Plus.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the most affordable path into the lineup, but it is also the most basic. It makes sense if you want the F-150’s core capability and plan to add only the equipment you truly need.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it opens the door to more desirable equipment and the available hybrid powertrain without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Lariat: This is the right step up if you want a more polished cabin and more available interior technology while still keeping the truck broadly usable.
• King Ranch: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with the richest cabin details in the data and a clear focus on comfort.
• Platinum: This is the upscale mainstream pick if you want a more premium feel and access to the hybrid powertrain.
• Tremor: This is the off-road-focused choice, with 33-inch tires, a 1-inch lift, off-road-tuned shocks and springs, beefy control arms, and an electronic locking rear differential.
• Raptor R: This is the extreme performance model, with the supercharged V8, massive tires, and hardware aimed at high-speed desert running.
• Platinum Plus: This is the most luxurious-sounding trim in the data, with a Smoked Truffle interior and Dark Smoked Truffle accents.

BlueCruise is available on Tremor and higher trims, so that is an important safety and convenience step-up to keep in mind.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford F-150?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,717 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $45,600, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $45,600 sits slightly below last year's $50,893.

That decline suggests the market has become more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for sellers to command top dollar right now. If you own one and plan to sell later, the current pricing trend means you may want to hold onto a well-kept truck rather than rush to market.

The good news is that the F-150’s broad appeal and strong feature set should help support demand over time. Trucks with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2024 Ford F-150 earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star side-crash and frontal-crash ratings and four-star rollover ratings. The IIHS gave the SuperCrew Good ratings for driver- and passenger-side crashworthiness and side crashes, but Poor ratings for front crash testing and seatbelt reminders, plus a Marginal rating for child seat anchors.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2024 F-150 comes with Ford CoPilot 360, which includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and cross traffic alert. Ford also recommends moving up the trim line for a 360-degree camera, and BlueCruise is available on Tremor and higher trims.

The main caveat is that some advanced safety features are not standard, and the IIHS results show a few weak spots that careful buyers should not ignore. If safety is a top priority, you should pay close attention to trim level and equipment.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds updated BlueCruise, a standard 12-inch touchscreen, and a multi-functional tailgate.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $41,484, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $45,600 average.
• It adds the debut of the Raptor R and the XLT Heritage Edition.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $49,786, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $45,600 average.
• It broadens the lineup with more driver-assistance systems and a Platinum Plus package.

The bottom line: the 2024 is the best fit if you want the updated tech and strong market selection without moving up to the pricier next year. If you are price-sensitive, the 2023 is the smarter value play, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the broader lineup and newer feature set.
