How much does the 2024 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 9,791 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2024 Ford Explorer a good car?

The 2024 Ford Explorer is a balanced choice if you want a midsize SUV with a more composed driving feel and a family-focused layout. It earns a user rating of 3/5, and its broad feature set, available performance, and flexible seating for up to seven passengers make it appealing for shoppers who want a capable, modern three-row SUV. It also offers a six-passenger layout with second-row captain’s chairs if you want easier access to the third row. The tradeoff is that it still doesn’t feel as premium inside as its price suggests, and some rivals do better in fuel economy, off-road ability, or interior and cargo space. 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Ford Explorer reliable?

The 2024 Ford Explorer is presented as a well-rounded used midsize SUV with a stronger driving character than many rivals. Its current-generation CD6 platform and rear-wheel-drive bias contribute to better handling than previous Explorers without giving up smoothness or refinement. For used buyers, that means you should still think carefully about maintenance history and overall condition, since long-term ownership risk is best managed by choosing a well-kept example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Explorer?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and confirm the listing’s accident and title history before you commit. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin, electronics, and seating configuration so you know the SUV matches your needs. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, especially if you want a higher-mileage example or one with more equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Explorer?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,791 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,990, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $34,110 sits slightly above last year's $34,082.

That small increase suggests the Explorer has held its value fairly steadily over the past year. For a future seller, that kind of price stability can be a positive sign because it points to a market that is not swinging sharply in either direction. If demand stays consistent, a well-kept example should remain relatively easy to price competitively.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $39,431, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $34,110 average.
• It adds updated infotainment, improved interior quality, and bolder styling.

The 2024 is the better value if you want a more affordable Explorer with stable pricing and strong inventory. If you want the newer-feeling cabin and updated tech, the 2025 is the better upgrade, but you’ll pay more for it. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2024 is the primary path; for shoppers who want the latest changes, the 2025 is worth the stretch.
